Coleby Downhill Challenge 2018
Daredevil downhill racers are returning to Coleby on the weekend of 9 and 10 June 2018 to test themselves and their machines down the challenging Coleby Hill course.
Following the success of the Coleby downhill racing in June 2014 and 2016, where the course was described by racers as ‘one of the best in the country’ and reaching speeds in excess of 40 mph, 36 soapboxes, sidecars and gravity bikes have entered this year.
What is the Downhill Challenge?
Downhill soapbox racing is spectacular and breathtaking, and coupled with the quality of this year’s competitors, the competition should be fierce and exciting.

Anything else I need to know?
Around 2,000 people are expected to attend the event this year which will see inventive adrenaline junkies shoot down the winding course in their own modified soapboxes.
It provides family entertainment all weekend plus ample parking facilities available in the village.
It is a charitable event hosted by Hykeham Lions and Coleby Village Hall Committee with all profits going to Lives (North Hykeham), Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and other local charities.
In 2014, 12 soapboxes took part, 2016 20 soapboxes, 10 gravity bikes and 4 gravity sidecars went down the hill.
We have seen some great soapboxes, so this year we will be looking to see who provides the most spectacular soapbox.
